RSVP for Our Hearing to Expand RTC!

Our moment is finally here! On Monday, February 24, City Council will be holding a hearing on our bills to expand the Right to Counsel! RSVP here now! 

After months of educating our communities, holding town halls, contacting our Council Members and more, the City Council will be hearing our bills, Intro 1104 and Intro 1529, to expand the Right to Counsel. Here is our chance to tell our stories and make sure they know why we must pass these two bills.

Where: City Hall

Why: These bills that bring us one huge step closer to an #EvictionFreeNYC! 

The more people we have at the hearing, the more we show City Council that we've had enough of evictions in our city. RSVP to join us now!  

Another important way to show our strength at the hearing is to have a two-thirds majority (34) of Council Members sponsoring our bills. Right now, we just need 2 more to sign onto the bills to reach our goal. Use our guide to call your Council Members today and help us reach this important goal!

The Right to Counsel NYC Coalition is a tenant led broad based coalition that formed in 2014 to disrupt Housing Court as a center of displacement and stop the eviction crisis that has threatened our families, our neighborhoods and our homes for too long. Our Coalition is made up of tenants, organizers, advocates, legal services organizations and more! Our work is rooted in principles of equity, dignity, humanity, diversity and justice. After a hard fought, 3 year grassroots campaign, we won and became the first city in the nation to establish a Right to Counsel for tenants facing eviction. Our campaign has inspired a movement across the country.
